Events And Competitions

The Rice Ballroom Team hosts and travels to several events annually. In chronological order these are:

SMU Ballroom Blitz – Dallas, TX
Held for the first time in October 2018.

Dances With Owls – Houston, TX
Our home competition, held in early November.

Cougar Classic – Houston, TX
Another hometown competition, held in February.
2020 date TBA.

Spring Swing
A fun evening of West Coast Swing lessons and social dance.
Hosted at Rice University and held in April.
2020 date TBA.

Austin Open – Austin, TX
Our last competiton of the year. Held in late March or early April.
